Bude has been a popular seaside resort along the North Cornish coast since Victorian times and caters well for modern day tourists by offering a variety of activities and places to eat for all of the family. The town overlooks a wide bay of sand surrounded by rugged cliffs and a seapool sits above Summerleaze Beach, providing safety for swimmers of all ages.

The main beaches in Bude are Crooklets Beach and Summerleaze Beach. Further along the coast to the north are Northcott, Sandymouth and Duckpool beaches.

Bude also has a large heated indoor leisure pool with flume, wave machine and cafe. Laser dome, trampolines, putting, floodlit tennis courts, mini-golf and go-karting provide a variety of activities to keep you busy throughout your stay.

Bude Castle was built in 1830 by Sir Goldsworthy Gurneyand and overlooks the canal leading to Summerleaze beach. Concerts, festivals and fetes are held in the grounds throughout the summer, providing great entertainment for balmy summer days and evenings.

Bude Canal offers 5 miles of enjoyable walks starting at Tamar Lakes and ending at Burmsdon Bridge. The canal path displays a variety of wildlife, as well as fishing opportunities.  An easy-going and enjoyable walk from Bude leads to the Weir, a lakeside coffee house and bistro incorporating an interactive wildlife centre.

Widemouth Bay lies 3 miles south of Bude and offers a variety of seaside activities from swimming, sunbathing, surfing and hunting for marine life in the hundreds of rock pools. This stretch of coast is steeped in the smuggling history and many inlets and coves can be found south of Widemouth Bay.

The South West Coast Path stretches 630 miles from Minehead in Somerset to Poole in Dorset and runs through North Cornwall, displaying dramatic geology and varied wildlife. Cafes are dotted along the coastal path and numerous beaches of sand and shingle provide varied scenery and photographic opportunities. The path can be picked up from all of the local beaches and can be followed either North or South for as long as you feel you would like to go!
