Rain, rain and more rain?

Posted on 13th February, 2026

Well it's been an exceptionally wet start to 2026 in Cornwall! With a parade of named storms, clouds upon clouds and the temptation to completely forget what that bright yellow thing in the sky was called again, you could be forgiven for thinking that a stargazing holiday should perhaps wait. We have taken great pleasure in popping out to grab moments looking at the stars however, and it is always a special privilege when our guests are kids!

We dashed out when we saw a break in the clouds on what was forecast to be a cloudy night and observed Jupiter for around 20 minutes! We looked at the 4 visible moons surrounding it and observed the famous big storm.
An awesome, educational experience for kids and it just goes to show that you don't need perfect weather here at Eddington Lodge!

Our telescopes are permanently set up, so as soon as there's an opportunity we will make the most of it! Here's to clear skies and stunning clarity after the rain.
